Plein Aire Oil Painting
Students travel to venues in and around Lapeer County to paint scenes
"en plein aire," or "in open air." Class instruction focuses on light, color,
painting style and technique based on a color wheel from the great masters.
INSTRUCTOR: Jason Cornish

Photography Workshops
Beginning July 8th and August 12th apply compositional
techniques in the field while learning while learning about light
at sunrise and sunset in some of the most beautiful, natural venues
in Lapeer County.

Digital Photography:
Getting to Know Your Digital Camera
Beginning and intermediate photographers learn to use their cameras
as a creative tool for expression by studying the challenging technical
aspects of their cameras. The first class is be held at Gallery 194 in
downtown Lapeer with remaining classes at Lone Willow Studio in Lapeer
where photo artists can work in a natural setting. The final session includes
a supportive group critique and review. Come prepared with a fully
charged battery for your digital camera, memory card and manual.
Assistance is provided in locating manuals upon request.

Composition in Nature Photography II
Learn four principals of nature photography including compositional
frame, shape and form, depth and pattern, and repetition. Utilize a
process of class critique while exploring the use of natural light.

Bring your own camera
Watercolor Painting
This class studies transparent watercolor for the beginning and
intermediate watercolor artist. Focus is on understanding and use of
color as well as basic watercolor techniques. Aspects introduced include materials, brushwork, color mixing, technique, composition, making corrections, etc. Good fundamental drawing skills and a grasp of tonal
value are helpful, but not absolutely necessary.
